Wawathani proyect
The challenge is to transform the quality of health services, creating a new system focused on providing well-being and top-quality medical care to children and their parents, as well as training and empowering doctors to have more empathic care and reconnect with their vocation. With a multidisciplinary and diverse team, Wawi is born a startup that creates a positive impact on the health of Peruvians.
My role in the team
Responsible for the UI design of the app and web, making UX development with the Dev team. I designed various prototypes, testing them and interviewing users to have a better comprehension of their needs, understanding them and in this way landing all those learnings in to a final design: Intuitive, friendly and visually attractive.
I participated in diverse and exciting topics of which I took great lessons, among them: design of the service experience, contributing ideas for its improvement, user research, applying agile methodologies in the app and web development process, making and creating experiments to strengthen the growth strategy, creating content that generates impact and managing social networks (Facebook and Instagram), I also designed the printed material such as promotional flyers, business cards, medical prescription and vaccination card of Wawi.
What I value most from this experience is not only the excellent team I worked with but also the interviews with the mothers and their children who allowed me to know their stories, their day to day and the problems they face. Contributing to the creation of Wawi and seeing how it has had a positive impact on the lives of its users is something that fills me with joy and pride.

Naming
My goal was to create a short name, easy to remember that could connect with people.
Inspired by the name of the project: Wawathani, the name "Wawi" was born in relation to "wawa" (in Quechua means baby) and the term "mami" to have a fun game of words.

App Design
The app has been created for easy health management of the greatest treasures for moms: their children. Intuitive, easy to use, it is visually attractive, friendly and fun. It was designed to change the cold and serious concept of hospitals that can’t connect with people.
Using organic, rounded shapes, pastel colors and icon set according to the Wawi branding, everything speaks the same visual language. This design was co-created with the moms, interviewing them to have a better understanding of the right design path for them.
Thanks to the great work and professionalism of the development team, the designs and interactions of the Wawi app have been successfully overcome challenges, reaffirming that designers and developers must work together and have excellent communication to achieve great things.

MVP of the app. This version was created to learn not only the best user flow, but also the right path for visual desgin.

Board with the app screens to guide us in the development process
Doctor's app and web. They can manage their appointments and also use the chat, where they can answer moms doubts regarding the treatment of their children

Prototype
I use Adobe XD and Axure to make the prototypes for testing. Sharing the final designs to the Dev team to work them.
Wawi App, easy to use :)
The whole app team worked really hard to make the app so simple and easy to use. Moms love it! The app was developed for Android.

Wawi medical center
With the creativity of Kuro Design Studio and and the advice of the human ceterd design team, the cowork was designed. Focus on making parents and their children feel like home, comfortable and be able to play. It's located in: Jose Chariarse 409 San Juan de Miraflores, Lima, Peru.

Wawi uniform
The administrative staff and Wawi doctors must have a distinctive uniform that represent the brand. My challenge was to design three types of uniform that can convey the values and image of the brand. I learned a lot about types of fabric and their characteristics, their uses and how the influence of color can help to improve patients moods.

Learnings
Each project in which I have worked has given me many lessons both personally and professionally, but the Startup Wawi is where I learned much more about the world of innovation and people. I had never worked in a startup before and it was an adventure I wanted to live. The project was incubated and developed in the innovation laboratory of the Breca group and we have their support and guidance, but the day-to-day reality led me to have many more lessons on the field. I learned that one should not fall in love with the solution but with the problem and adapt it to reality where your value proposition is desired, needed, and generates profits to keep the business afloat and generate the interest and support of investors.
Each interview with the mothers and their children, the visits to clinics and health centers, knowing the reality of the public and private health system in Lima, made me understand a reality that until then I did not know. The challenge was greater because our audience did not use technology much in their day to day and their equipment (cell phones) did not have, for the most part, the capacity of space available for the app, a challenge that was worked brilliantly together with the team of developers.
Adapting, changing when failures to the original plan are detected, being resilient, listening and respecting others, having a solid foundation of trust with team members, are key ingredients for a small business to function and scale. It is right there where each member of the team must be committed and respect each other, listen, and work in harmony to be able to reach the goals set together. I compare it to a symphony, where each instrument plays an important role in being able to hear a great and moving musical composition.
